Matthew grew up on a multigenerational farm, working along side his grandfather in the field and in the shop. Grandpa Henry instilled two fundamental attitudes: Work hard, and if you don't have the right tool for the job, you make it!
These characteristics drove Matthew through high school, college, and his early careers of welding, fabrication, construction, and turning wrenches. He became a jack of all trades and intended to pursue a career in coding and computer sciences, but metal fabrication is his passion.
Matthew started Wide Vision Metal Fab as an onsite welding and repair business, during high school in the early 90s. Building corral and doing repair work for local farmers is the backbone of our business. He took the business full time in 2005.
Yvonne initially began lending a hand in 2011, helping with painting, invoices, and other odd tasks. Matthew and Yvonne officially joined hands in 2014. Early 2019 we relocated and added a CNC plasma table. Yvonne joined the business fulltime took the role of designer and sales, in addition to administrative and handy work.
We lost all of our onsite and repair work during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021. We quickly pivoted to an online sales model, focusing on custom and personalized signs and décor. We look forward to relocating again in the near future, and expanding our business further.
In our spare time we love the outdoors, camping, hiking, and hanging out by the campfire. Matthew spends much of his downtime working on both of his YouTube channels: @WideVisionMetalFab showcases his metal fabrication, and @MatthewsResilientWays highlights some great survival and preparedness tips, plus some of our trips.
